One of 13 Mr. Rags stores designed by WORKSHOP 3D an built in malls throughout the Northwest and beyond, this one is just like all the rest, only different. While based on the same overall design concept, palette of materials, and details, each store is different based on size, mall guidelines, size, and storefront configuration. In order to execute and build stores quickly, WORKSHOP 3D developed a solution with two different “classes” of construction. One was a series of pre-designed elements, including the display cases, front doors, dressing rooms, cash counter, etc., which did not vary much from store to store, and which were supplied by the client. The second was the site-specific work, including the floor and ceiling treatments, together with a number of constructed elements that re-configured the perimeter wall in preparation for the install of the standard items.

Although several stores had already been built Montana, Oregon, and Idaho, this was the first time that WORKSHOP 3D got to work directly with a local contractor, and many details were refined in this store and made standard for future stores, including the dressing rooms and front desk.

The seamless integration of the custom and standardized elements was the key to a successful build-out. The project was completed in record time and came in under budget. The owners (and the architect) couldn’t have been happier.
