Arboretum Residence

Residental Addition and Remodel
Seattle, WA
Todd Heistuman, Architect

This residence near the Arboretum was originally a 1 story bungalow.

The building was torn down to the first floor, and the original brick was removed cleaned and stored at the site. Pin piles were placed along the east/alley elevation to support the foundation that had shifted down hill.

The lower floor was also remodeled, for a new bedroom and all new utilities, effectively creating a new 3 story home with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths.

Some of the details executed include: site built bent curved handrail for the stairs; 26 foot clear story columns; laundry chute integrated into the stair system and curved rafter tails.
